People buy from people they know, like, and trust! Right? How many times have you heard that you can’t sell anything nowadays unless you show yourself? Personal branding is important! Your audience needs to feel a connection to you. Tell us about your journey — there’d better be a struggle so your story forms a hero’s arc! Make a video about how you work. Show yourself. You have three seconds to get their attention. Do a little dance!

In this age of extreme transparency and borderline oversharing with strangers on the Internet, we want to explore our relationship with our faces. While being able to present ourselves online gives artists a chance to promote themselves and build an audience with little money or connections, the pressure of constant exposure can be a lot. You can’t just be a professional — what used to be a personal concern now affects your work, too. Do I look good on camera? Does my place look nice? Does my life have style?

It’s not enough that looking at popular colleagues can reignite all your insecurities; you’d better keep those thoughts to yourself. Content must be inspiring so never whine — people don’t like negativity. Craft your online face with just the right proportions of sincerity and marketing hooks, put it on, and log in. Tailor your identity to every platform where you display yourself and swap them as you jump from one app to another.
